It’s that time of year again. The air is crisper, the days are shorter, and the holidays are on their way. With Christmas just a few short days away, it’s probably time to consider decorating. But, you don’t have to spend a lot to do it. You can decorate your house for the holidays do-it-yourself style!
For this edition of our “party supplies meets holiday mantel décor,” we’ve used polka dots and candy cane stripes as our inspiration. Keeping items to a theme ensures that the overall look is consistent and whimsy prevails throughout the entire presentation. Christmas time is happy and jolly, and it’s time your mantel was the same way!
The most prominent piece is the merry banner. Cupcake wrappers and treat boxes work together to set both the color and polka dot schemes. A touch of glitter glue adds the bling. For the complete DIY, visit here.
A candy cane cut-out shows off its glittered accents in a framed wide mat. Clear paint buckets layered with red and white gumballs carry the candy cane stripe motif even further and Santa’s bell reminds all of us to just keep believing.
The paper straw wreath makes a bold statement with both polka dots and stripes representing. Check the web for a how-to tutorial; there are plenty available.
Themed printables are always the perfect décor addition. Get this “Holly Jolly” version here.
Hang these mini-stockings in a framed mat by the chimney with care. Pom pom trim is a subtle nod to the polka dot theme.
For another reminder that Santa’s on his way display this Santa’s bell strap in a shadow box. Pull in some added color with a simple green polka dot bow.
