DIY Crepe Paper Heart Instructions
STEP ONE: Use a piece of scratch paper to cut a heart shape (ours is 7” square). Trace the heart onto the poster board.
STEP TWO: Cut streamer into 24” length. One 24” length will make two flowers.
STEP THREE: Fold streamer in half three times. Cut folded streamer in half from folds to folds using a wavy pattern.
STEP FOUR: Open wavy streamer. Starting at one end, apply glue along the bottom edge for about 6”.
STEP FIVE: Begin rolling flower. Once you’ve rolled about 1” of the streamer, start using a combination of rolling and scrunching to get the ruffled petal effect. Continue the process of applying glue and rolling/scrunching until you run out of streamer.
Fluff flower to desired shape and size. Trim pointy “stem” off the back. Continue making flowers from streamers until you have enough to fill the heart.
STEP SIX: Glue flowers to posterboard using a hot glue gun. (TIP: Arrange flowers to make sure they fit and cover any gaps. Once you have them where they work best, pick each flower up from its designated spot, apply glue then secure it to the poster board.)
STEP EIGHT: Insert posterboard into frame and display for all to love. (TIP: Because of the heart’s added dimension, place the glass behind the posterboard when re-assembling the frame.)
Happy Valentine’s Day to you! We wish you lots of luck in love this year!
