Stuff the cup with paper towels and apply painter’s tape around the rim and over the paper towels to prevent any spray from getting inside.

Spray paint the whole outer surface of the cup and wood block with light layers of gold spray paint.

Once dry, peel the painter’s tape and remove the paper towels.

Print your trophy cup template. Trace and cut out these shapes on gold cardstock.  You’ll need a set for each cup.

Use a ruler and a bone folder or wooden craft stick to fold the cardstock handles along the dotted lines. Note that one is a vertical fold and one is on a diagonal line. These correspond to their placement on the cup.

Adhere to the cups with hot glue on the tabs you created from the folds.

On party day, place some of your favorite candy inside the cup.

Personalize these trophy cupcake holders for the birthday boy or girl using personalized stickers.  To help adhere this more flat on the cup, cut slits around the outside of the sticker and smooth down pieces as you go around the circular shape. This soccer design is very forgiving to hit these minor cuts.

Top it off with decorated cupcakes of choice. Tip: Wilton tip #233 makes grass like designs with icing.
