Even the most novice Star Wars fan knows what a lightsaber is.  But if you’re throwing a themed party for your little Jedi, you bet he or she will know all about these laser swords.  Ours may not be made of a plasma blade and aren’t powered by a kyber crystal but as a party favor, kids will love them.  Especially because you can fill these DIY favors with candy to match!  Whether you’ve got a bunch of Jedis or an army of Siths on your hands, these lightsabers will be as epic as this saga is.

Check out the steps below for this easy DIY.  We’re hoping the Force is with you while you recreate these themed flashlight candy tubes!

Step 1. Color the top of the flashlight with a light green permanent marker.

Step 2. Color the cap of the candy tube light green.

Step 3. Cover the handle of the flashlight with black duct tape, leaving the power bottom uncovered.

Step 4. After the handle is covered with tape, it should fit snug in the candy tube. Tape the tube to the handle.

Step 5. Cut 4 pieces of light green crepe paper, long enough to wrap around the tube. Apply Mod Podge to a small section of the tube. Wrap the crepe paper piece around the tube, and brush more Mod Podge on top of the crepe paper.

Step 6. Finish wrapping the tube with the remaining crepe paper.

Step 7. When you turn on the flashlight, the tube will glow like a light saber.

Step 8. You can give out the tube as a party favor and fill with gumballs (or other small candies, like sixlets.) The tube will not glow as bright when filled with candy, but kids will love to play with with once the candy is finished.

Step 9. Repeat the above steps, substituting red for green.

We think these DIY Lightsaber party favors are out of this world.  If you make them for your Star Wars themed party, make sure to share a picture with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
