Here is the first in a series of DIY Patriotic Holiday Décor ideas. Get ready to start off your Summer DIY collection of crafty red, white and blue projects. Trust us, this first one is a breeze.
Whether you are hosting a party or want to spruce up your dining area, this Pinwheel Centerpiece will put a fun spin on your tabletop. Assemble pinwheels mass production style and use the extras to line a walkway outside or tuck into potted plants and baskets around the house.
Paper Favor Bags act as the base and with the addition of lollipop sticks and stacked buttons, the pinwheels begin to take on their true character.
Trim the favor bags to 5 inches square. Remove the loose side pieces and glue the bag squares together at ALL four corners (see arrows).
Next, cut the bag squares from each corner to the middle being careful to stop about 1 inch from the center point. Once the corners are cut, hot glue alternating pinwheel points to the center section. TIP: Create a template from scrap cardstock to use as a cutting guide (see picture).
Add stacked buttons and lollipop sticks to complete. Trim lollipop sticks to various heights and display pinwheels in Vintage Milk Bottles filled with Sixlets Candy.
This playful display will perk up any table arrangement. Choose your favorite color favor bags to coordinate with birthdays or other warm weather holidays. And don’t forget to share your pinwheels with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
