- 2 different sized Styrofoam discs
- Round Styrofoam ball
- Black spray paint
- Wood Dowel
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- Orange ribbon
- Baker’s Twine
- Straight Pins with heads
- Hot glue
- Scissors (not pictured)
To create the shape, layer the smaller foam disc on top of the larger foam disc. Insert wood dowel through the center and stick the round foam ball on top. Use hot glue to secure all these pieces together, even adding glue on the ends of the dowel before inserting it into the Styrofoam.
Apply black spray paint to the entire surface. Tip: create a spray booth using a tall cardboard box that’s open on one side.
To create the spider, fold 8 black pipe cleaners in half and insert them into the foam ball for the legs. Glue on 2 googly eyes for his face.
Decorate the base by adhering a strip of orange ribbon around each foam disc edge.
To create the web, first tie pieces of baker’s twine around the heads of 8 straight pins. Insert the pins into the top Styrofoam disc on the base.
Pull all the other ends up and hot glue them to the top of the wooden dowel that’s under the spider ball. Wind and tie an additional piece of twine around that top area to make sure to secure those pieces in place. Tie a piece of twine to the bottom of one strand about an inch from the end. Wrap the piece around each subsequent strand going clockwise to create the spiderweb effect. Tie it once it gets back to the first strand. Repeat with additional strands up the full length of the stand.
Your spider lollipop stand is complete! Insert personalized lollipops into the foam disc around the spider and on the bottom layer.
