The best part about harvest season has the be the feast right? Who is ready to loosen their belts once again for our favorite gluttonous holiday of gratitude? Many people will be gathering together to solidify family ties, and after this election season, a lot of us might need a little extra family bonding. So instead of letting things get messy over politics during turkey time, let things get messy during a family crafting session.
Keep the kids busy while your Thanksgiving feast is cooking with this fun and easy Turkey Lantern craft. Bonus … added ambient decoration for your holiday tablescape! It’s a two-fer!
Turkey Luminary Supplies
- Brown plastic cups
- Cardstock: brown, red, orange, green, yellow, white and black
- Small paper punches (optional)
- Glue stick
- Battery powered tea lights
Punch or hand cut eyes, beak and waddle for the face.
Once assembled, glue to the cup. (TIP: You could use large googly eyes in place of cardstock ones for added fun and quirkiness.)
Cut feathers from cardstock. (TIP: You could use pre-cut shapes from the seasonal section of your local crafts store.)
Glue feathers to back of cup. (TIP: A little bit of cello tape will help to hold feathers in place while the glue dries.) For an added twist, have kids write what they are thankful for on feathers before attaching to cup.
Place lit battery-operated tea lights under cups to illuminate. Let the flock light the way to your Thanksgiving Feast!
