Drop some sparkle and shine from your party’s ceiling with this glorious gold chandelier. All it takes to achieve this impactful piece is some fringe garland and embroidery hoops. It’s easily adaptable to whatever height requirements you have and the best part is we’ve designed it so you can take it apart to store flat.
You don’t have to be an alchemist to turn your party decor into a golden oasis. This golden fringe hanging decoration will transform your party space. Add a pair alongside your buffet table. See how we styled them in our Roaring 1920s New Year’s Eve Party.
You don’t need too many supplies to build this gleaming tower of tinsel. Choose silver fringe or gold fringe to match your metallic of choice and follow the steps below.
DIY Fringe Tinsel Chandelier Supplies
- Gold Fringe Tinsel Garland
- Embroidery hoops- 14, 12, 9, & 6 inches
- Wire (18 gauge)
- Wire cutters
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Hot glue gun
- Monofilament & large eyed needle (not shown)
STEP ONE: Cut wire to 12” lengths. Bend both ends to create hooks that fit over an embroidery hoop. NOTE: Make sure ALL hooks are the same size and hooks on the same wire length face the SAME direction. We used 10 wire hook hangers for our chandelier.
STEP TWO: Cut a length of garland to fit around largest hoop. Glue to embroidery hoop keeping top edges flush. (TIP: The garland can be a bit fragile so if a tear happens, just use a piece of clear tape to repair it.)
STEP THREE: Cut garland to fit around remaining hoops and glue to attach. Keep top edges flush.
STEP FOUR: Use monofilament to hang largest hoop. (TIP: Thread a large-eyed needle with monofilament then poke it through the garland just under the hoop. Knot monofilament on top of the hoop.)
STEP FIVE: Attach hoops together using wire hook hangers. Our chandelier has four hangers in between the two larger hoops and three in between the rest. (TIP: When attaching a lower hoop, it might be helpful to poke hook through the garland material so that the hoop will fit snuggly in the hook’s cup.)
It may be necessary to use a dab of hot glue to stabilize a hook or two. But don’t get too carried away. The beauty of using the hooks is that you can disassemble the chandelier and pack it flat when finished with it
