Have the children been behaving? Because there is more than Santa’s naughty list for kids to be worried about this time of year, and there’s not a lot of time left to get in many good deeds. Krampus will be on the prowl looking for the ill-tempered and uncooperative children out there and he won’t be handing out coal. The goat-horned demon of Christmas will nab the misbehavers and stick them in his basket menacing them with his rattling chains. We’re not really sure if he steals them to swat them with his birch twigs or if he plans to *gulp* devour them! The myths of his terrorizing youth have been keeping central European kids in line for centuries.
But, let’s dial this blog post back to PG with a set of Krampus Christmas cookies that is more adorable than abominable. Go ahead and douse his evil powers with a cup or two of sugar. But his reputation can’t be ignored so even this cute set of cookies from the kitchen of @ally.bakes should be reminder enough to keep even the most disobedient children proper for a while. Hand these cookies out as a Christmas party favor. We can’t think of a better way to keep all your party guests stay on their best behavior.

Krampus Decorated Cookie Instructions
To start you will need to bake cookies and prepare the royal icing. See the recipes in this post help get you started.
Take your cooled cookies and pipe light brown medium consistency onto the horns and inside ears of Krampus. To make light brown icing, mix white royal icing and just a small amount of brown gel food coloring.
Scrape black medium consistency onto the mouth area with the back of a butter knife. We want this area to be very thinly coated with the icing.
Next, pipe brown medium consistency icing onto the face.
Wait a few minutes, and then fill in the top of the ears with the same brown icing. We don’t want to do both the face and top of ears at the same time, otherwise the parts will just mix together and you won’t get any defined lines.
Now fill in the goatee area with the brown medium consistency icing and place the light brown icing in vertical lines.
Using a scribe, make fun swirly designs my dragging the scribe tool throughout the goatee area.
With gold icing with medium consistency, pipe two circles for the eyes. I usually start out piping small eyes and then use the scribe tool to make the circles larger and even coated.
With the black icing with a medium consistency, pipe a nose onto the face.
Using white icing with a medium consistency, pipe a little of white onto the top of the open mouth. Next, use your scribe to pull the icing down to triangular shapes to make sharp teeth.
Once the golden eyes are dry, add black icing with medium consistency for the pupils.
While the black icing is still wet, go ahead and add little circles of white to the bottom left hand of the black pupils to add a shine to the eyes.
Use brown icing with stiff consistency and a star tip for this next step. Add the icing around the face for a hairy beard and big bushy eyebrows!
Finally, mix some lemon extract with the brown food coloring gel. Using a food-safe paintbrush, add some lines onto the horns and ears for detail.
Krampus Basket Cookies Instructions
Start off with brown icing in medium consistency. Add the bottom of the basket in with making three little round shapes. Next, on the side of the basket, there will also be a round shape that will need to be piped on.
Using brown icing in a more stiff consistency, add a single line down the left side of the basket.
Next, add some horizontal lines on top of the vertical line. Make sure you leave space in between each line.
Next, add another vertical line and horizontal lines in between the previous horizontal lines.
Continue to make this basket weave design until you complete the bottom of the basket. Add the top handle of the basket with the same icing.
Now let’s add the naughty children to the basket. Using any skin tone color, add in half-circles at the top of the basket.
Using any hair colors, add some hair to the half-circles.
Once the hair and face are dry, add some eyes and eyebrows with edible marker.
These should be made and handed out before Christmas Eve as a gentle warning to maintain good behavior status, at least until the new year!
