Another year, another Mother’s Day! Moms are
probably definitely one of the most underappreciated people in the world. They clean up after us, they cook for us, they do our laundry – let’s be honest, until we’re out of the house, our moms are doing everything except bathing us (and they do that for a few years, too). Yet, after all of this, they ask for nothing. They get but one day to be appreciated for bringing us into this world, the second Sunday in May.
So whether you’re looking for a second grade Mother’s Day craft, or just something personalized that your kids can give mom this May, this easy to make and fun to show off DIY craft has got you covered. Wholesale Party Supplies put together this incredible confetti art word craft for you to make mom this Mother’s Day. It only takes a few minutes to make Mom smile. Have fun, we hope she likes it!
You will need:
- 8×10″ Frame
- X-acto knife
- Mod Podge
- Sponge or brush
- Crepe Streamers (any colors you choose)
- Love Printable
- 8×10″ Cardboard (not shown)
- Heavy book larger than 8×10″ (not shown)
Print out the Printable.
Cut it out carefully with an x-acto knife.
Make your own confetti by cutting a length of streamer- about 24″.
Fold in half and cut. Repeat until you have a small stack about 2-3″ each.
Cut little slivers until the stack is gone.
Repeat for each color.
Trace the cutout onto another piece of cardboard or foam core, and cut it out carefully.
Coat in Mod Podge and carefully lay the design on top and smooth over.
Place the cutout onto the cardboard backing that came with the frame and trace it.
We chose a striped diagonal layout for our design using a pencil to draw it onto the cardboard backing of the frame.
We marked the fill color for each confetti zone to keep us on track as we worked.
Work on each zone individually, sponging Mod Podge over one section at a time then sprinkling with confetti.
Press the confetti into the glue with your hand to help it stick.
You don’t have to put confetti on the area where “LOVE” will be placed, but the confetti should overlap that area a bit.
The “LOVE” is ready to be placed.
Coat the back with a thick layer of Mod Podge and lay over the confetti.
Lay a heavy book on top while the glue sets.
After about 10 minutes your art is ready to be framed.
