Look Morty! I’m a cookie! It won’t be long now until Rick Sanchez is back at it with Morty and the Smith family for another season of interdimensional adventures. The upcoming season of Rick and Morty starts on November 10th and we couldn’t be more ready. After non-stop binging all three previous seasons, watching one episode at a time  (the old fashioned way) is going to be a challenge for our emotions, but we can be strong. It’s been two loooong years since Mr. Poopybutthole warned us about the uncomfortable wait we would have to endure until the Smiths were back in our lives with fresh content. On the bright side, in that time we learned there will be at least 70 more episodes to look forward to in upcoming seasons. So, we will continue to watch at the snail’s pace of one episode per week, at least until the release of season four on streaming and DVD.

We’re thinking about a watch party- probably for the season premiere… finale… or maybe every episode. There will be Rick and Morty costumes and foods inspired by our heroes. See how you can turn Rick and Morty into cookies- like an experiment gone terribly right!! These delicious sugar cookies will go right through the portal of your mouth and into your belly.

Follow along with the step by step instructions from @ally.bakes and you’ll be able to recreate Rick, Morty and the portal cookies you see here. Find more of Ally’s delicious desserts are over here.

Rick and Morty Decorated Sugar Cookie Tutorial - Royal Icing Colors

Before you get started on Rick and Morty, you will need to make round sugar cookies and the royal icing. See our recipes and instructions for them here. Pre-mix royal icing colors in large batches before you begin piping. Over-estimate how much you will need so you won’t have to try to re-mix the exact color if you run out.

Materials Needed

  • Baked Circle Sugar Cookies (recipe here)
  • Royal Icing (recipe here)
  • Gel Food Coloring
    • Kelly Green, Light Green, Copper, Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, Burgundy, Black, White
  • Piping Bags
  • Tip #00 and Couplers
  • Scribe

For this cookie tutorial, you will not need to use any special kind of tips besides the #00. Everything else you can simply cut a very small hole in the tip of the piping bag.

For the portal cookie, you’ll need to use the wet on wet technique. Use the dark green and light green royal icing. The consistency will need to be flood consistency so we can get the colors to combine easily together. Pipe the colors in a swirl.

Next, take your scribe and starting in the middle of the portal in the royal icing, drag your scribe out towards the edge of the cookie. Continue to do so until you get the desired look.

Let royal icing dry completely.
