Communion / Religious
The sacrament of First Holy Communion is a very special time for a child in their Christian upbringing. It marks the first time they are able to receive the Holy Eucharist, which as you know, represents the Body of Christ. Part of the tradition is the celebration that follows, as this is a momentous occasion. The young Communicants are all dressed up; girls in their white dresses and veils, and boys in their suits. A First Communion party is one where relatives and friends gather and welcome the child into this new phase of their religion.
The Holy Eucharist is a major part of Catholic Mass and theology. This rite of passage represents another step on a child's catechism in the church. Celebrate with tableware made specifically for the occasion with a version for boys and one for girls. General religious tableware featuring a cross will work for any Christian rite or sacrament as will elegant solid colored paper goods.
As far as favors go, it is not an occasion that calls for toys but candy is perfectly acceptable. A candy buffet with bags or containers where guest can help themselves makes a good favor idea. Personalized items are also a good choice. You can never go wrong with customized lollipops or bookmarks to mark the occasion.
