Credit Card Security Codes
What Is A Credit Card Security Code?
A credit card security code, or CVV code, is a unique set of numbers issued exclusively to your credit card used to safeguard your information against potential fraud, theft or data breaches. This code also helps to validate that the customer placing an order online actually has the card in his/her possession and is a legitimate user.
Where To Find Your Security Code?
The location of your card’s security code varies depending on the issuer. See below for location based on card type:
- Visa & Mastercard: The card identification number is a 3-digit, non-embossed number printed on the signature panel on the back of the card immediately following the card account number.
- Discover Card: The card identification number is the 3-digit, non-embossed number printed on the signature panel on the back of the card immediately following the card account number.
- American Express: The card identification number is a 4 digit, non-embossed number printed just above and to the right of your account number on the front of the card.
